This is still a test.

So lets try it again, shall we? The only way to get better is to keep trying right? I've been looking around the web, trying to decide what to post about, and I've got to tell you, nothing's really jumping out at me. Oh sure, I could talk about the latest American Idol news or the newest Britney Spears picture, but doesn't everyone? Those topics are getting a bit tired. However, I was vaguely amused by the latest story on Guns N Roses long awaited (by some, I must say I'm not really a fan) album Chinese Democracy. If you haven't heard about it, here's the deal: Dr. Pepper announced that it would give everyone in America a can of soda, including the remaining members of GNR (namely Axl, since no one can stand to work with him for too long), but excluding Slash and Buckethead, if they released Chinese Democracy anytime in 2008. Here's the news story:

Dr Pepper has a pop quiz for Guns N' Roses: Where's Chinese Democracy, already?!

In an effort to move the band's long-awaited album toward a release date, the soda purveyor has offered to gift everyone in America (except former bandmembers Slash and Buckethead) with a free soft drink if Democracy comes out anytime in 2008.

The oft-delayed album—the band's first since its 1993 cover album, The Spaghetti Incident—has been in the works for more than a decade and has reportedly rung up over $13 million in recording expenses so far.

It was last slated for release in March 2007, but the big debut was canceled due to "scheduling difficulties," Axl Rose, the sole remaining original GNR member, said at the time. So far, no new release date has been set.

For now, Dr Pepper is willing to wait a little longer.

"It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper’s special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love," the company said in a statement.

"So we completely understand and empathize with Axl's quest for perfection—for something more than the average album." (source eonline)

And here's Axl's response:
Press Release from Axl Regarding Dr Pepper

We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album "Chinese Democracy," as for us, this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead's performances are on our album, I'll share my Dr Pepper with him.

I, for one, find this extremely amusing, because everyone knows that this album is never going to come out. If it does somehow manage to come out in 2008, I will forfeit my Dr. Pepper as penance for being so skeptical of Axl's need for a free carbonated beverage. I prefer Diet Dr. Pepper anyway.

Its been a slow day here at the Vine. The boss is away, so the mice have been playing, and they haven't been playing here! Next week will be a bit of a shock. There will be so many people around compared to this week! Well, that about wraps up my sad attempt to blog for serious. I'll try to do better next time.

I be out.
